Reflection

Pre-camp
What sounds interesting about this project?
Ans: About the hands on activity on extracting caffeine from beverages.

What do you think you can learn from this project?
Ans: How much caffeine do we actually consume from the beverages we see in our almost everyday

Any immediate questions regarding the project?
Ans: No immediate questions at the moment
First Day
What did you do today? Briefly describe your day’s activities
Ans: We did the fastest ball challenge and measured tea leaves.

What did you learn today? Discuss any learning points from today’s activities
Ans: I learnt the formulas that are really useful in doing the fastest ball challenge.

How do you feel about today’s activities?Describe how the project has affected your understanding of the discipline and how it may be applied elsewhere
Ans: The project let me understand that discipline is very important in labs. As in labs, most of the chemicals are dangerous so we have to make sure we wear our lab coats and goggles before we enter the lab.

Share your insights for the day
Ans: NTU's chemistry lab is really advanced and interesting.

Second Day
What did you do today? Briefly describe your day’s activities
Ans: We finished extracting caffeine out of the tea with the different advanced machines.

What did you learn today?Discuss any learning points from today’s activities
Ans: I learnt how to use the different advanced machines.

How do you feel about today’s activities?Describe how the project has affected your understanding of the discipline and how it may be applied elsewhere.Share your insights for the day
Ans: Timing is important. One second more may ruin your whole experiment.

What new questions do you have regarding the discipline?
Ans: No new questions.

Third Day
Plenary Sessions.Note down at least three key learning points
Ans: 3D-printing can be use to make implants such as a fake heart, hearing aid and it can even be used in pre-operation for the planning of the surgery.

How do you feel about the SST-NTU Flagship programme?Describe how the programme has affected your understanding of the discipline on a larger scale.Share your insights for the programme in general
Ans: I think SST-NTU Flagship programme helped me alot. In terms of understanding NTU in general and the subjects we can take in univercity. In terms of discipline, I find that it is similar to SST in the sense that they do not have alarms in the schools to remind the students when to attend classes and the students have to rely on themselves to be punctual in class.
